Difficulty: Intermediate

Gabriel Fauré wrote his Dolly suite to mark the birthdays and other life events of his love interest, Emma Bardac. The suite was originally scored for piano, containing six short pieces written between 1893 and 1896. The Berceuse, the first piece in the suite, is one of the most popular, and has been arranged for a number of different instruments. In this version for double bass and piano, the solo part is available in both high and low versions, suitable for advanced or intermediate players. The arrangement makes use of the harmonics on the instrument, and is a great way for intermediate players to get used to melodic passages in the harmonic register.
